Simon Macleod, Dublin, 2001 Simon Macleod was born in 1956 and subsequently studied Fine Arts in N.C.A.D.He first came to national prominence with his inclusion in the 1985 group exhibition at The Crawford Municipal Gallery, Cork. He is one of the leading Landscape painters in Modern Irish Art. He has been awarded the Royal Trust of Canada Award for Oil Painting and his work hangs in a number of major public collections such as Bank of Ireland, Royal Hospital, Office of Public Works and the Dublin Writers Museum, Parnell Square. He has most recently represented Ireland at Contemporary Irish Art, London. The BUYERS GUIDE TO IRISH ART described his work as 'quietly evoking the fragile magic of life.' |
